Avoiding Conflicts In System Mode Timers Which May Contribute To Batteries Not Being Charged Correctly Overnight

How to avoid potential conflicts in the System Mode Timers and understand how to optimise Timer settings of your system.

Timers MUST be set chronologically from Timer 1 to Timer 6 where Timer 1 should start at some time soon after midnight (eg 00.30am). Timer 6 should be set to the latest start time of the 24 hour period (eg 21.00pm or 23.00pm etc). In addition, Timer 6 is the only one which is able to roll over the calendar date at midnight and continue until Timer 1 then restarts.

The Factory defaults are as follows:-

Timer 1   01.00 - 05.00

Timer 2   05.00 - 09.00

Timer 3   09.00 - 13.00

Timer 4   13.00 - 17.00

Timer 5   17.00 - 21.00

Timer 6   21.00 - 01.00

The Timers can therefore be adjusted to desired time settings, but they MUST stay within chronological order. Where an end customer may have a low overnight import tariff agreement with their supplier, let's say from 23.30pm - 04.30am to charge their Batteries, then it is incorrect to start Timer 1 at 23.30pm. This is facilitated by a combination of Timer 6 starting at 23.30pm and rolling over into Timer 1 which would then continue until Timer 1 ends and Timer 2 starts. Therefore the settings would be adjusted as follows.

Timer 1   01.00 - 04.30 - Grid Charge Enabled

Timer 2   04.30 - 09.00

Timer 3   09.00 - 13.00

Timer 4   13.00 - 17.00

Timer 5   17.00 - 23.30

Timer 6   23.30 - 01.00 - Grid Charge Enabled

These example settings would therefore provide the desired overnight Battery Charging from the Grid on low import tariff from 23.30pm - 04.30am
