Understanding the Battery Settings

Below will explain how each setting will change and impact the system

Batt Type - this is where the type of battery is selected all sunsynk batteries are lithium, if you are unsure speak to your installer
Batt Capacity - this value will refer to the total battery storage you have installed. as an example a sunsynk 5kW battery is 100Ah, therefore if you have 2 batteries installed you would insert 200Ah into this parameter
Discharge Amps - this value will determine the power the battery can discharge to load at the current is based on DC voltage, to work out what that will be in Watts and not current you can make an approximate caculation.
Power = Current x Voltage
most low voltage batteries will be around 50 volts
therefore best on the current in the image below 80 amps (current) x 50 volts (approximate voltage) = 4000Watts (Power)
Charge Amps - this value will determine the power the battery can charge from the PV the current is based on DC voltage, to work out what that will be in Watts and not current you can make an approximate caculation.
Power = Current x Voltage
most low voltage batteries will be around 50 volts
therefore best on the current in the image below 70 amps (current) x 50 volts (approximate voltage) = 3500Watts (Power)
ShutDown - this is the value that the inverter will shutdown and no power will be drawn from the batteries
Restart - once the battery SOC% is above the value here the AC output will resume and the battery can supply the load
Low Batt - the inverter will begin to alarm if the battery SOC% value goes below the value set in here
Activate - This feature will help recover a battery that is over discharged by slowly charging from the solar array or grid.
BMS_Err_Stop - When it is active, if the battery BMS failed
to communicate with inverter, the inverter will stop
working and report fault.
Protocol - this number will change according to the battery you are using and the protocol the battery has, most that communicate via CAN are protocol 0 and batteries that communicate via RS485 may change ( check the battery compatibility document for the list)
Grid Charge - this setting must be turned on if you would like to charge from the grid
Grid Start - the battery will only begin charging from the grid when the battery is above this SOC %
Grid Amps - this value will be similar to charge amps above but this will deterime the power that you charge the batteries from the grid at. the Current will still be based off a DC voltage (Refer to Charge amps above for calculation)
Gen Charge - this settings must be turned on if you would like to charge from the generator terminal normally for a generator
Gen Start - the battery will only begin charging from the generator when the battery is above this SOC %
Gen Amps - this value will be similar to charge amps above but this will deterime the power that you charge the batteries from the generator at. the Current will still be based off a DC voltage (Refer to Charge amps above for calculation)
Grid Signal - Normally open relay that closes when the Grid Start signal state is active
Gen Signal - Normally open relay that closes when the Gen Start signal state is active
Gen Force - When the generator is connected, it is forced to start the generator without meeting other conditions.

Battery Empty V - this is the voltage at which the battery will be completely flat

Signal ISLAND MODE - Signal ISLAND MODE: when "signal island mode" is
checked and the inverter connects the grid, the ATS port
voltage will be 0. When "signal island mode" is checked
and the inverter disconnected from the grid, the ATS port
voltage will output 230Vac voltage. With this feature and
outside NO type relay, the Ecco inverters will have a Dry contact and NC relay it can realize N and PE disconnection
or bond.

Low power mode< Low Batt - the mode is used if you do not charge the batteries up from the grid and wish to conserve energy over night ( if selected and when
battery SOC is less then “Low Bat” value, the
self-consumption power of inverter will be from
grid and battery simultaneously. If unselected, the
self-consumption power of inverter will be mainly
from grid

Low Noise Mode - sometimes other electrical products in the house can interfer with the inverter and cause a high pitched noise to be heard. this function switches the switching frequency to a frequency outside the audible hearing range

Disable Float Charge - For the lithium battery with BMS communication, the inverter will keep the charging voltage at the current voltage when the BMS charging current requested is 0. It is used to help prevent battery from being overcharged.
