Scenario: We were called on a site visit with a strange problem, site has got 2 inverters on L1 and L2 and immersion heater. Everything was working fine but the dataloggers are not connecting. When the installer tries to connect the EAP doesn’t appear on the device. Seemed like an interference issue to us.
We went to the site tried connecting but it didn’t show up, tried different data loggers and it didn’t work as well. We observed that there is a mesh and bridge network created to provide the internet to the plant. We tried turning the mesh off to see if there’s any interference, but it didn’t work. Then we turned off the bridge network that was about 40 meters away. As soon as we turned that off the EAP appeared, and we connected it to the datalogger. Then we turned on the bridge and mesh to access the internet and EAP did appear this time, so we connected it to the Wi-Fi created plants, updated the data logger firmware and this sorted the issue out.
Question: Data logger not able to connect as EAP was not appearing.
Answer: It was an interface issue, there was a Ubiquiti NanoBeam and mesh connection that was interfering with the data logger signals and that’s why EAP wasn’t appearing on the device.
Solution: Turn the main NanoBridge off (the sender), try connecting with EAP and this will appear on the device (as the interference has been eliminated). Once they are connected, turn the bridge on for the internet and go to 10.10.10.1 and connect it to the internet. Once it is connected update the data loggers and observe if they are working fine.
